Reading/Math Support

Math

At the heart of our school’s math success is the KMS Math Team, led by Ms. Costa and Ms. Reyes.  We work closely with students and teachers to provide targeted support, build math skills, and inspire a love for problem-solving.  We believe that math instruction should be engaging, accessible, and meaningful for every student. Our approach centers on building strong conceptual understanding alongside practical problem-solving skills. The math team strives to create a classroom environment where curiosity is encouraged, mistakes are valued as learning opportunities, and students feel confident to explore new ideas.  Mathematics is not just about memorizing facts or procedures—it’s a way of thinking that develops critical reasoning, creativity, and perseverance.  We prepare students to become confident mathematicians and lifelong learners.

Reading

Reading at Killingly Memorial School is led by Reading Specialists Mrs. Morrone and Miss Hosko. We collaborate closely with students and teachers to provide targeted reading intervention while fostering a schoolwide love of reading. The reading team focuses on strengthening foundational reading skills through engaging, small-group instruction that supports classroom learning and builds strong reading and language comprehension.

We create a supportive environment where mistakes are welcomed, risk-taking is encouraged, and students develop ownership of their reading growth. We believe reading is a rich, valuable skill that can always be strengthened, regardless of where a student is in their reading journey. Our ultimate goal is to prepare students for real-world success while nurturing lifelong readers and learners.
